UP government headed by Yogi Adityanath recently slashed 15 government holidays of 42 holidays to improve government service

Taking cue Mwnish Sisodia is looking to remove 3 holidays among 20 based on personalities.

It's a Good move to learn from right policies.

Further AAP has toned down on EVM fraud allegations. In absence of reasonable evidence on EVM manipulation it is a good choice.

Blood never sleeps

Recently Sadhvi Pragya has been granted bail. NIA took over from ATS and exonerated Sadhvi Pragya in their chargesheet.

While the counsel for blast victims has argued that there was voluminous incriminating evidence gathered by ATS that supported accusations as prima facie true.

Six persons were killed and nearly 100 others injured when a bomb strapped to a motorcycle exploded in Malegaon town of Nashik district, on September 29, 2008.

 The question that begs to be asked - Are evidence collected by ATS not enough? If that is so, NIA should file an affidavit that evidences submitted by ATS led by late Hemant Karkare are insufficient.

And What has NIA done if evidences are insufficient?

What should the answer be to blast victims? We don't know nor do we care Who committed the crime but it was surely not the current accused. So we will slowly release all the accused.

There is a saying - "Blood never sleeps". How should they feel after losing their loved ones and accused exonerated. Should they appreciate that justice is not delivered even after 8 years? Or make peace with regular incompetence of investigative organizations?

What would you do if you were in their place?

In Sadhvi's case, the NIA which had in its supplementary chargesheet exonerated her of all charges, did not object to her being granted bail and released from jail.

Appearing for the intervenor - family of blast victim Nisar Bilal — counsel B A Desai who questioned the legality of the fresh probe of NIA which had taken over from the Maharashtra Anti Terror Squad (ATS) pointed to what he said was "incriminating evidence against the accused."

Desai said, "There are reasonable grounds to believe that accusations are prima facie true and that Sadhvi was part of several conspiracy meetings prior to the blast. There is voluminous evidence as well as witness statements to prove this."

The HC had heard the audio and video recordings of the conspiracy meetings held prior to the blasts after Desai pointed out discrepancies in the evidence submitted. Desai challenged the NIA recommendation to exonerate Thakur in its supplementary chargesheet. "Prosecutor has not acted as the agent of Justice in this case. The onus is now on the intervenor to place facts as the NIA has refused to do it before the court, " Desai had argued in his concluding submissions.

The bench had called for written submissions from Desai, Sadhvi's counsel and NIA counsel Sandesh Patil.

Why Yes we are poor.

I recently heard that Snap Chat CEO 'allegedly' said he has no interest in expanding to poor countries like India.

Although our very own 'chokra' Mr. Pichai said the same thing last year when he said - "if it works in India, it works everywhere" But we took it as a compliment. After all our 'Chokra'!

So Yes, Thanks! for noticing
India has 17.5% poor and accounts for 20.6% poor people in the world. We do contribute more than a fair share to poverty in world.

58% ,of India's population lives on less than 200 rupees per day (6k per month) and 12.4% people below 84 Rs. Per day.

Why yes we are poor!

We aren't just poor. Our priorities are more about

• What does my neighbour eat? I will kill him for it. (The murderers of Mohammad Akhlaq are being granted bail)
• How many kids does my neighbour have? I will have more babies than him. (Sakshi Maharaj)
•  How I am still better than my neighbour country, Pakistan? I will become like him.

Now, How dare you? I will uninstall the snap 'thingy'.

Understanding e Governance

E governance is supposed to help better delivery of services by giving online access to citizens and officials but it has failed because there is not accountability of the government officials.

I made a complaint regarding an overflowing drainage through grievance portal. Here is the snapshot of passing the buck that has happened on the complaint.

Basically there is a loop of 3 officials escalating to each other on the complaint.

Any intelligent citizen would demand that accountability be fixed for government officials from their legislator? Do we think on that before casting our vote?

Is it not our duty as citizen to demand accountability from our legislators Or we are too smug and will vote for parties on issues of rivalry with neighbours be it country, state or fellow citizen?

Somehow it reminds me of British India policy of  'Divide and Rule'

So the other day I had to spend a lot of time researching and finding about laptop processors and their performances. I would like to save the time for others presenting the information collated from my research below

How do you measure the performance of a processor?

Average CPU Mark (provided by https://www.cpubenchmark.net/) can give a comparison of CPU processor performance. Higher the Average CPU mark faster is the processor.

As a simple rule

Prefer i3 processor: If you want it for surfing, watching movies and productivity

What is this generation thingy mentioned on sites?

Intel has so far released 7 generations of laptop processor. Each generation of processor is better than previous one  in terms of power consumption and processing efficiency. 

How do I find the generation of laptop ?

You can find the generation of processor by reading name of processor.
Intel is currently releasing seventh generation of processors

Generation is indicated by the number after Brand modifier
Intel Core i3-7100U means Seventh Generation Processsor
Intel Core i3-6006U means Sixth Generation Processor
So Intel Core i3-5005U means Fifth Generation Processor
Intel Core i3-4130 means Fourth Generation processor

You get the drift. :)

What more information can I get from the name?

You can also get an idea of general power consumption by processor by looking at the last alphabets of processor name

Mobile Processors		Comment
H	High Performance Graphics	These processors are meant for high performance and have 2 cores i3 - 7100H consumes 35 Watts for cooling
HK	High Performance Graphics and unlocked	You can overclock these processors. The processor is meant for power user and gamers as they have 4 cores instead of 2 cores available in Y and U series. They also consume high power compared to others typically around 45 watts. Hence low on battery life.
HQ	High performance Graphics and quad core	These processors are also meant for power users and gamers. They also have 4 cores instead of 2 but they cannot be overclocked. They also consume high power compared to others typically in range of 45 watts. Hence low on battery life.
U	Ultra Low Power	These processors consume 15 watts of power. They are good for productivity, surfing and battery life.
Y	Extremely low power	These processors consume extremely low power around 4.5 watts hence don't need a fan. These are good for productivity, surfing and portability because fan is not required. Currently they have low capacity batteries or high powered screens. Hence lacking battery life.

Example
So i3-7100H means it is a seventh generation intel processor for high graphics performance has 2 cores.
So i7- 4700HQ means it is a Fourth Generation Intel Processor meant for high graphics performance with 4 cores.
i3-6006U means It is a Sixth Generation Intel processor meant for productivity, surfing and battery life
Core i7-7Y75 means It is a Seventh Generation Intel processor meant for portability, productivity and surfing.

Now you are ready to decide the laptop processor you want to purchase. :)

How to install netbeans ide on ubuntu

For the downloaded .sh file
Step 1: make the file executable by running the following command at terminal in the saved folder
chmod +x

For example: chmod +x netbeans-8.2-javase-linux.sh

If you get the error
The JDK is missing and is required to run some NetBeans modules Please use the --jdkhome command line option to specify a JDK installation or see http://wiki.netbeans.org/FaqRunningOnJre for more information.

First check if you have jvm on your machine
java -version 
javac -version

If you see java versions then you just need to find 
This probably means jdk path is not set correctly just modify netbeans.conf

netbeans_jdkhome="/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-oracle"

And now reexecute

Installing Fallout 3 DLC on Ubuntu

So even linux users want to play games but PC games are mostly made for Windows platform. So here is a guide to install Windows Game - Fallout 3 on Ubuntu

Step 1: Go do www.playonlinux.com and download the ubuntu package (deb file) and run it to install play on linux

Step 2: Open PlayOnLinux and select Games Tab. Select Fallout 3 DLC (Because that is the version I had setup files for). Click Install

Step 3 : If it does not throw any error while installing. Good News! Just give the location of setup file when it asks for setup files by selecting 'Other Location' option

If it gives errors while installing like it did in mine. I got the below error

Runtime error (at -1:0)
Cannot import dll C\users\sourabhinani\Temp\is-40GT7.tmp\isskin.dll

What to do to resolve this error?
Go to the folder where setup file is kept and Open Terminal
Give the command - winetricks vcrun6sp6
This is a helper script which will install required redistributable runtime libraries needed to run some programs in wine.

Finally run wine setup.exe

To install Code::Blocks from this PPA, open a terminal and type:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:damien-moore/codeblocks-stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install codeblocks codeblocks-contrib

Viola! Codeblocks is installed just launch it from Dashboard.

It gets a list of compilers on your system.

 

Is Jio summer surprise plan applicable for 149 Rs plan subscriber

I was curious that Jio has announced that those of its members who purchase prime plan and do a recharge of minimum 303 plan will get 3 months of complimentary free service. Does it apply to people who have already purchased the 149 plan because we don't need much internet But paying 303 for 3 months of complimentary service is still a great deal.

I called Jio general helpline number - 199 from my Jio number and confirmed the same
