How to use your android phone to transfer files using wifi, without typing address
Hey guys,
I have read tens of blogs giving you an app which will give you an ip address. You copy that address to your PC browser and do your thing (;)) .
What I don't like about these apps is "Why do I have to type addresses? Can't the phone find himself. Sure it can!"
So, Here is a simple way in 3 step process:
1. Just install ES file explorer on your android phone from the play store.
2. Stuff to do on your computer :
(I am showing on XP but it would be similar in other Windows Operating Systems too.)
First, let us make sure We have file sharing enabled as follows :-
Go to tools -> folder options ->view tab
Check that Use simple file sharing is enabled (as shown below).
2. Finally an editor for all the text typing needs : Jota+

4. An app to get your daily news : "The Hindu Newsfeed"
This app is a simple effective app especially for people who would like to download the paper for offline browsing.
First, let us make sure We have file sharing enabled as follows :-
Go to tools -> folder options ->view tab
Check that Use simple file sharing is enabled (as shown below).
Now, that this is done. Let us share the folder as follows :-
Right click the folder (having the file you want to share example. movies folder) and click properties. You should see a a sharing tab like the one shown below
Just check "Share this folder on the network". This folder will become available on Local network to copy.
Note: It may happen that Windows runs a wizard when you decide to share folder.Just click ok.
3. Stuff to do on phone:
Open ES File explorer.
Go to LAN tab in it (shown below)
Click Search and it would automatically show your pc ip adress as server.
Browse through the folder and enjoy.
You can copy videos on your phone now, even watch them on wifi using MX Player (also available on Play store). Have fun!
P.S.> Check the allow network users to change my file option in Properties and You can rename, add, delete files on PC from your phone.
