What was in the package Tom Hanks hangs on to in "Cast Away"

 Well, there is an interesting side story about the package.
In the beginning of the movie we see a Fedex package with angel wings symbol being picked up from Dick and Bettina Ranch

And in the movie end Tom Hanks happens to deliver a package with angel wings to Bettina Ranch (Notice the "Dick" cut out)

Also the lady he meets on the high way having a truck with angel wings  looks  quite similar to lady in the beginning

The parallel story is The lady is Bettina who sent Salsa to the husband (who is cheating with some other lady) in Moscow. And the wings on truck is the Godsend for Tom to meet this lady Bettina who will be the love he doesn't lose.
In a way it's ironic for Tom Hanks to get stuck on an island for 4 years to meet the love he doesn't lose. 

Quite a brilliant side story. I must add. :)
